Gene Capsule

The 01EDC Gene Capsule is a creative entry in the Chrono Series, combining biological inspiration with advanced mechanical engineering. More than a traditional slider, the Gene Capsule transforms the iconic DNA double helix into a fully interactive mechanism, bringing the code of life to your fingertips.

At the center of the design is a detailed double-helix structure that rotates in sync with the slider mechanism. As the capsule is pushed, the internal gears and spiral components move together, creating a striking visual effect as light and shadow flow through the exposed mechanical elements. The result is a fidget that feels as much like a kinetic sculpture as it does a precision-engineered slider.

The Gene Capsule features two distinct play modes:

Mechanical Track Linkage

The main capsule body uses a dense A-type mechanical track that provides smooth, balanced pushes with crisp tactile feedback. As the slider moves, the DNA-inspired helix rotates simultaneously, creating a synchronized mechanical experience that is both visually and physically satisfying.

Independent Spiral Dial

The double-helix assembly can also be interacted with independently as a ratcheting dial. Each step produces crisp clicks and subtle low-frequency vibration. The dial can be turned slowly for deliberate feedback or flicked rapidly to create a continuous tremor in the hand.

The spiral structure uses a glue-free magnetic design, giving collectors the ability to disassemble and experiment with custom configurations. A 2 × 12 mm tritium tube slot is also included, allowing the Gene Capsule to glow in low-light conditions and adding another layer of personalization.
